During my nearly decade-long career as a publicist – specializing mostly in restaurants and bars – I was often approached with one type of question: “what’s good for X?” “X” has ranged from “dinner with my parents – they’re super cheap” to “a huge group brunch with people who think they’re cool but kind of aren’t” to “drinks with this guy I met on Saturday and may or may not want to sleep with.”
Sadly, I often found that finding the variable under pressure proved challenging and found there was no resource to assist with my particular dilemma. Thus, after years of failing the social expectations placed on me due to my career choice; welcome to the site I’ve created to help get my friends off my back in times of need.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ve been a vegetarian for 17 years (though I almost always dine with VERY non-vegetarian friends) so my opinions are generally based on atmosphere, the few dishes I can sample, whether or not I had a good time and – most importantly – the white wine selection.
My musings are validated only by the fact that, due to my career, location, network of friends and overall laziness in the kitchen, I’m out and about enough to know what is, in fact, good for X.
Enjoy, take it for what it is and, should the urge strike, email me at GoodForXBlog [at] gmail [dot] com.
