Cafe Clover is the latest incarnation of 10 Downing St., a space in which restaurants have come and gone at an alarming rate – even for NYC. Fortunately, the address now seems to have found a tenant worthy of its stellar location. Opened in January 2015 by hospitality legend, David Rabin (the man behind The Lamb’s Club, The Skylark and countless other successful restaurants and bars) and his new protege, Kyle Hotchkiss Carone, Cafe Clover is not only a gorgeous space filled with equally beautiful people but offers a delicious, inventive menu which breathes new life into “healthy” dishes. Cafe Clover – which is in the West Village just north of SoHo – is a good restaurant for big group dinners, beautiful people watching, small plates, outdoor seating, girls’ dinners and entertaining out of town friends. The bar area is also great for first dates and casual dates.
Good For Groups: Though Cafe Clover is made up mostly of banquettes situated in intimate nooks, there’s also ample opportunity for large group dinners. The selection of truly incredible small plates and many vegetarian options make it a great place for sharing with even the healthiest, most annoying eaters – which also makes it great for girls’ dinners with your… you know, closest friends.
Good For First Dates/Casual Dates: The bar area is set apart from the restaurant but offers the same chic, lively atmosphere and great people watching – making it a great spot for a date with someone you’re not sure can hold a conversation without assistance.
Good For Entertaining Out Of Town Friends: Located in one of the most energetic yet charming areas of the city, the chic crowd and proximity to tons of after-dinner bars make it a great place to take friends looking to experience the best of NYC in a short time.
