Though there are many things about the West Village’s Cafe Minerva that deserve a mention, the highlight is, without a doubt, the cheap wine list. Featuring 20 rotating bottles priced at $20 each, the selection is easily paired with one of the equally as inexpensive, yet very delicious, small dishes. Beyond those points, it’s a good restaurant for boozy brunch, first dates, girls’ dinners, business meals, people watching, casual dates, lunch and breakfast.
Good For Girls’ Dinners: As mentioned, it’s one of the cheapest quality places in the neighborhood. Because there’s always that friend who uses “I’m too broke” as an excuse to bail. Also, the plates are great for sharing (especially the pasta dishes) and… again… you can go blind off of wine for very little moolah.
Good For First Dates/Casual Dates: You can eat at the bar which, for me, is always more likely to make for a pressure-free date. It’s in one of the most romantically adorable neighborhoods in the city, too, which means you can stroll the tree-lined streets after your meal.
Good For Lunch: It opens at 7 a.m. daily meaning you can pop in whenever for a casual business meeting, chat over coffee or quick bite.
Good For Boozy Brunch: Per usual, I don’t mean party brunch. I mean a cheap, booze-heavy meal with friends on a lazy weekend afternoon.
