Emporio in Nolita is a good NYC restaurant for brunch, girls’ nights out, big groups, lunch, romantic dates, small plates and spotting beautiful people. Here are a few more details:
Good For Girls’ Night Out/Girls’ Dinner: While the dining area can get a little loud, it’s a good choice for bigger groups and the energetic atmosphere is a good start to a night out on the town. Also, there’s an extensive wine list and tons of dishes meant for sharing.
Good For Spotting Beautiful People: My friends and I often to refer to this place as “hot guy heaven.” While admittedly not the most creative nickname, it is accurate. I’ve never seen so many tall, attractive men roped into one small space (the front bar/waiting area). Apparently, this is where they’ve all gone so there’s no longer an excuse to whine.
Emporio’s Address: 231 Mott St. (btwn Prince and Spring – Nolita/SoHo)
Emporio is an adorable, “typically Nolita” space tucked away on Mott St. It’s one of my favorite places for dinner with friends and my restaurant of choice when some eye candy is in order. The food is really good – though skews towards the heavier side in case you have an aversion to being full. The wine list is also a highlight.
In addition, this happens to be the only place I’ve ever had a number dropped on my table and wasn’t completely grossed out by the person who had placed it in front of me. One drawback – it’s a good thing everyone’s so good looking as you’ll be forced to brush up against them while standing in the front bar waiting to sit. The space can get insanely crowded due to the hoards of people competing for a table but it ends up being worth it in the end.
