Felix, in SoHo, has been one of my standby NYC restaurants for over a decade and I’m clearly not alone. The space attracts an impressive blend of regulars – the type of regulars who receive concerned calls from the staff if they aren’t seen for a few days.
There’s a reason for that loyalty – the food is good, the wine list is excellent, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is exciting yet comfortable. The bar area is great for business drinks, dates and entertaining out of town friends. The dining room is great for boozy brunch, groups, business meals, groups, breakfast, lunch, (kind of) outdoor seating, people watching and small bites.
Good For Business Meals: Open at 8 a.m. on weekdays and serves well into the night, it’s a great option for breakfast or daytime meetings. Also, it’s one of the rare restaurants that strikes the balance between putting people at ease and making them believe they’ve had a higher-end experience. Another perk – it’s an easy spot for groups if you’re planning a larger meeting.
Good For People Watching: In the warmer months, the full-length front windows open up, exposing the streets of SoHo to its guests. If you can grab one of the tables in these windows, you’ll feel as though you’re sitting outdoors while having the benefit of protection from unexpected rain as you observe the crowds from (a few inches) above.
Good For Boozy Brunch: While always a good choice if you’re looking for a few glasses of afternoon wine over the meal, Felix will also occasionally throw true “party” brunches (check here for details). The crowd can be mixed but it’s always a fun time if you come with the right group.
