While Indochine is no longer quite the “see and seen” place it once was, the classic restaurant still attracts an interesting crowd – somehow managing to maintain its chic, sexy atmosphere by not entirely devolving into a nightly douche fest over the years. The French-Vientnamese menu is consistently good, the cocktails are delicious and the wine list is peppered with some unique offerings, going beyond the standard by-the-glass selection.
Indochine is still relatively good for celebrity sightings and great for business meals, romantic dates, large groups, small bites, people watching, spotting beautiful people and entertaining out of town friends. More info below:
Good For Romantic Dates: While the constantly bustling crowd might make it difficult to be fully attentive to your date, it’s a fun, dark, sexy place – perfect for the few New Yorkers who don’t have ADD.
Good For Business Meals: This is an ideal place to entertain colleagues and/or clients that are younger and from out of town. Though no longer really considered “hip” and “trendy” by locals, it still very much passes as such to the less jaded eye.
Good For Celebrity Sightings: It’s safe to say that, at some point in the restaurant’s nearly 30 years in business, almost any celebrity you can name has dined at Indochine. While they no longer flock here in droves, it’s still a good gamble when it comes to spotting VIPs.
