No Idea is a good NYC dive bar for a fun, super casual date, girls’ night out, guys’ night out or cheap drinks. Here are some more details:
Good For Casual Dates: If you’re meeting up with the type who likes to chill out and play pool while getting wasted off of cheap wine, this place is highly recommended.
Good For Girls’ Night Out: Dance and sing like nobody’s watching while you blow off steam with your lady friends. Don’t worry about looking cute – no one else does.
Good Guys’ Night Out: This place is a huge sausage fest and is perfect for after-work drinks with the guys. You can actually hear each other talk, there are games to entertain you and TVs for whatever sports viewing you’d like to do.
Good For Cheap Drinks: While I would steer clear of the white wine, even premium brands of spirits are insanely inexpensive. Get ready to be shocked by the tiny number at the bottom of your bill after a night of drinking way too much.
Address For No Idea Bar: 30 E. 20th St. #1 (Flatiron/Gramercy)
Even years out of college, there are still nights when the cheap drinks and smell of stale beer that defined my higher education need revisiting. Enter No Idea Bar. Walking in will bring you back to the days when ordering a vodka soda was still exciting and you’ll pay almost as little as you did back then.
The front room is generally a sausage fest mix of just out of college finance guys and tech entrepreneurs of all ages. In the back room, you’ll find high top tables full of a more coed mix as well as an adjoining room with a pool table and other games. If you’re there to pick up a girl, beware of vomit on the cab ride home - people don’t go here for a sober time.
Nonetheless, it’s a great spot for chilling out with friends and having a blast while not giving a shit what anyone around you thinks (because chances are they’re not able to think at all). As a bonus to those with little spare cash, the bar offers “Name Night,” allowing those with name of the day the chance to drink for free with friends from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. You can check the schedule here.
