Olio Pizza e Piu is a great NYC restaurant for boozy brunches, casual dates, girls’ dinners, group brunches and group dinners, lunches, parent visits and small bites – here are a few more tips:
Good For Casual Dates: Only if the weather is good enough to sit outside. The inside can get a little empty and therefore awkward.
Good For Girls’ Dinners: It’s pretty cheap and there’s something to please everyone. Plus it’s located in an easy to get to spot for pretty much everyone in the city.
Good For Group Brunches and Dinners: The place is big enough to accommodate big groups and it’s easy to share a few pizzas and pasta dishes. However, I would only go here with a group if you plan to sit inside, outside can get pretty packed and the tables don’t easily combine.
Olio’s Address: 3 Greenwich Ave. (West Village/Greenwich Village)
Olio, though not the hippest restaurant in NYC, has come to be one of my favorite Italian spots. As cliche as it sounds, the atmosphere reminds me of a quaint restaurant in a small town in Europe and the food, particularly the pizza and anything else to come out of the wood burning oven (such as the eggplant parm).
The wine list is also great and they have super cheap deals which you can randomly find on the website. Plus, it has great outdoor seating when weather permits and is located at one of the most bustling corners downtown making it a prime spot for people watching.
