Otto Enoteca Pizzeria is a great NYC restaurant for business meals, casual dates, first dates, girls’ dinners, large groups, lunches, entertaining out of town friends, parent visits, small bites and spotting beautiful people. Here are few more tips:
Good For Business Meals: Better for business lunches or early dinners as it fills up quickly and the waiting situation is not the most intimate or comfortable.
Good For First Dates: If you’re cool with having dinner on a first date (which I am not), this place is chill enough and fast enough that you can still escape unscathed if things go wrong.
Good For Big Groups: You may have to wait but they accommodate groups really well and the pizzas and appetizers make sharing plates easy.
Otto Enoteca Pizzeria’s Address: 1 5th Ave. (at 8th St. – Greenwich Village)
Otto Enoteca Pizzeria is one of my favorite places in NYC. I’ve been a little disappointed by a few Mario Batali restaurants because I always have such high expectations – BUT when the man does it right, he does it RIGHT and Otto is one example.
The bar area is adorable though be prepared to stand as you wait for a table as the high tops don’t have chairs and the stools at the actual bar fill up quickly. You honestly won’t even notice, though, due to the great selection of wine and small bites to choose from as you watch the train station signage flip until it lands on your designated Italian city (indicating it’s your turn to eat).
Once you’re called, the Caprese salad, which is basically a lump of amazing mozzarella cheese covered in flavorful pesto and surrounded by fresh tomatoes, cannot be missed. The pizzas and pastas are also highly recommended and be sure to indulge in as much bread as possible between courses.
