Pour George, in Greenwich Village, is constantly packed with NYU kids who flirt with each other and down cheap drinks while pretending to watch sports. Still, for a dive-y bar, it doesn’t give you that “I don’t even want to touch this table with my elbow” feeling. Which makes it a good bar for casual dates, cheap drinks, girls’ nights out, guys’ nights out and finding one night stands.
It also happens to have a decent food menu which makes it good for boozy brunch, big groups, casual dates and small bites.
Good For Casual Dates: If you can squeeze past the bar to the tables in the back, you’ll find a quiet, dark, sexy spot for a cocktail. There’s definitely nothing impressive or upscale about it but it works for chill conversation.
Good For Guys’ Nights Out: If you want to skip the nightclub bottle prices and hit on college girls while checking out a basketball game, you’ve come to the right place.
Good For Groups: Whether eating or drinking, sitting or standing, big groups are always present and accommodated for at Pour George.
Good For Brunch: Chef Josh Eden, a protege of Jean-Georges, designed his menus to be made up of anything but typical bar food. Brunch is no exception with dishes like scrambled eggs with duck confit, green chili and cracklings or homemade granola served with Greek yogurt, bee pollen and fruit. It’s an unassuming spot for meals but one that won’t disappoint.
