The Coffee Shop, in Union Square, is notorious for its hot waitresses, relaxed atmosphere and “show off our patrons” outdoor seating. A well-known model hangout (I don’t think I’ve ever been unless it was chosen by a model and/or photographer friend), it’s a good place for large groups, boozy brunch, outdoor seating, casual dates, girls’ dinners, lunch, breakfast, people watching, spotting gorgeous crowds and small bites.
Good For Outdoor Seating: There’s a section of outdoor seating on Union Square West that is one of the best spots for people watching in the city. It’s definitely a “see and be seen” spot, though, so be prepared to be on the other side of the eyeballing as well. However, if you prefer a little more anonymity, there’s also an outdoor seating section around the corner.
Good For Groups: The Coffee Shop rarely gets overcrowded and they kind of live by the “pull up as many chairs as necessary” law – both inside and out. It’s a casual place for big groups to get together for a few drinks and some decent small plates.
Good For Casual Dates/First Dates: Convenient for pretty much anyone and chill yet frequented by surprisingly “cool” and beautiful people, it’s a good date suggestion to show you’re in the know yet aren’t trying too hard. Plus, it’s one of those spots where you can go for just drinks but, if it goes well, end up having a full meal.
Good For Breakfast: It’s open for just short of 24 hours a day so, even if breakfast happens to be at the end of a long night out, they’re there to make sure you’re satiated before you finally hit the sheets.
